Job Description

Job Title: Production Process EngineerLocation: Whitstable, KentSalary: up to £34,000Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 4.30pm / Friday 8.00am - 1.30pmOur Client:An innovative and industry-leading manufacturer, known for their cutting-edge solutions and commitment to excellence. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will analyse existing processes, identify areas for improvement,and implement innovative solutions. Your expertise and analytical skills will drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the success of operations.Benefits:

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:
  • Lead production engineering support.
  • Analyse production problems, identify and implement solutions to fix the root cause.
  • Lead quality management within the machine shop, drive improvements inline with departmental measures.
  • Ensure new and existing products are routed through best cost and quality solutions.
  • Lead the process layout of new products and carry out/own all activity including PFMEAs to ensure process controls required are in place.
  • Measure on benefit to company in terms of cost, quality and delivery improvements implemented.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities in production areas to take ownership for implementation, including the selection and implementation of new equipment.
  • Write ECNs, PREs and RNs as requested by the Process Engineering group.
  • Write and edit MIs and PIs.
  • Provide input into new designs through design review and pre-production procedures to ensure design for manufacture and best cost methods.
  • Support the commodity product and any other process and product transfers.
  • Adhere to company policies, typically including COSHH for the introduction of new materials and chemicals into test, development or production.
  • Liaise directly with suppliers to support tooling or equipment procurement.
  • Ensure PRES log is kept up to date and is recorded daily.
  • Work with the Machine Shop Setters to achieve cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Ensure set up and cycle times are optimised.
  • Support the CNC Setters and Operators to prove out programs on the shop floor.
  • Drive quality process control.
  • Select, scope, justify and implement new equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors and visitors comply with the companys Health & Safety policy and use equipment and PPE provided.
  • Ensure work instructions are followed as identified in the QMS.
  • Carry out performance and development reviews, as well as relevant training and development for members of staff.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of staff.
  • Ensure that succession plans and suitable career development plans are in place for the team.
  • Ensure sufficient coverage for holiday, sickness or unexpected absence.
  • Deliver best practice and ensure consistency for all activities and identify and reduce non-value activities.
  • Ensure all activity is within budget.
Experience and skills required for this position:Essential Experience:
  • Manufacturing, ideally within a component or assembly industry
  • Experience of reading and analysing technical and engineering drawings
  • Experience of day-to-day production issues
  • Cost reduction and quality improvement
  • Set up reduction
  • New production introduction
  • Best cost manufacturing routing
  • Use of quality control systems
  • Lean and continuous improvement skills including 5S, SMED and OEE
  • Data analysis
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to build relationships with other departments.
Desirable Experience
  • Ability to use CAD or equivalent
  • Experience working with Edgecam or equivalent
  • Experience of CNC machines, control systems, nakamura multi-spindle, multi-turret machines
  • Experience working with Cimco Edit DNC software or equivalent
  • Knowledge of exotic materials
  • Ability to support NPI with Design Engineers, focusing on Design for Manufacture
  • MRP knowledge
  • Use of CMM
