Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Customs Clearance professional to join a well established client of ours based in South Kent.The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:* Calculating Duty/VAT cost for consignments.* Processing Import/Export declarations (Home Use/CFSP/NCTS/Permanent Export).* Dealing with general enquiries from importers/exporters concerning all areas relating to Customs Procedures ie Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates and any other documentation requirements.* Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and Customs procedures.* Answering HMRC Declaration queries as and when they arise.* Assisting the International Customs Compliance Manager in ensuring entries are completed correctly.* Providing basic customs clearance training to new operatives.* Monitoring employee productivity on a day-to-day basis.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:* Full knowledge of customs procedures and principles.* Ability to be a self-starter and work on own initiative.* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and develop strong working relationships.* Good analytical and excellent organisational skills.* Willingness to take ownership for resolution of enquiries and complaints.* A team player attitude* Ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or distressed people.* An understanding for the need for confidentiality and discretion.* Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/Outlook).This role requires you to be able to travel elsewhere in Europe and within the UK if required, a valid passport and full driving licence is therefore essential.New Appointments Group, Expertly Matching Employers and Jobseekers since 1975.
