Whether we’re providing them with reliable energy or creating innovative solutions, our teams of genuinely helpful people work hard to make the lives of our customers better.Right now, we’re looking for someone to support the Head of Commercial Planning & Performance with planning, forecasting and performance reporting. Including detailed financial and commercial analysis including cash and capex of City Energy Solutions (CES) but also across Energy Infrastructure Services (EIS).The role will involve gaining a full understanding of the commercial aspects of projects. The right person for this role will have great knowledge on translating and developing excel spreadsheet models to calculate relevant key performance criteria, as well as identifying cost reductions and improvements.

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis of opportunities, KPI Performance Reporting and also support MTP and Forecasts
  • Perform risk analysis’s by using financial models and “what-if” scenarios to challenge the commercial assumptions and highlight areas that would improve E.ON’s risk and return profile.
  • Develop and manage relationships with the varying stakeholders and be present results that are understandable, succinct and structured to facilitate decision making
  • Develop or vary the existing models to cope with new concepts/situations. This involves being able to understand the engineering and accounting principles at a high level and to deduce their impact on the financials
  • Maintain good audit trails of important data and assumptions – capable of standing up to rigorous scrutiny.
  • Profile description:Essential:
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of risks
  • An understanding of Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations.
  • Excellent financial spreadsheet modelling skills with the ability to manipulate raw data to make usable and presentable.
  • Ability to convey technical (financial or engineering) info in a clear and concise manner
  • Developed critical and numerical reasoning skills
  • The ability to multitask, maintain focus under pressure and ensure accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
  • Experience of finance and engineering (heat and power)
  • A sound understanding of capital/construction projects.
  • Desirable:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (or otherwise suitably experienced) in a finance/business/mathematical/engineering subject
  • A working knowledge of long-term contract accounting
  • Ability to extract risks and financial consequences from reading a contract document
  • An understanding of the energy industry
  • Great teamworking skills at all levels with a strong set of communication skills
