Job Description

The Financial Reporting Group operates within ourAssurance Service Line. Its key role is to provide our audit engagement teamswith support and advice on technical accounting and other financial reporting requirements.Enabling them to deliver high quality services to their clients and to managethe risks involved in providing those services. Given the dynamic andinnovative landscape of financial services and products, coupled with the paceof change in financial reporting requirements, the Financial Services FRG teamare at the leading edge of helping our clients and teams manage these changes.You will address complex and demanding challenges and provide seamless serviceon a global basis. The opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated andambitious individual to join EYs specialist FS FRG team. The role includesleadership of the provision of technical accounting support to the Wealth andAsset Management sector, including delivery of meaningful insights intoaccounting and reporting matters relevant to that sector. The successfulcandidate will have the opportunity to grow their technical accounting skillsand knowledge, working within a collaborative team of fellow technicalaccounting professionals. Your key responsibilities:Applying deep technical accounting and disclosureexperience, plus sector knowledge you will perform pre-issuance reviews of thefinancial statements of our listed and public interest audit clients, whichinclude some of the largest companies in the sector. The objective being toensure any significant and unusual accounting or financial reporting mattershave been accounted for and disclosed appropriately in the financial statements.You will be the key contact for the provision ofadvice and support on accounting technical matters under IFRS & UK GAAP toteams within the Wealth and Asset Management sector, supported by a number ofmore junior staff. You will be involved in the development of thoughtleadership, such as our International GAAP publication. You will alsoparticipate in the firms EMEIA and Global technical accounting subject mattergroups. You will develop and deliver high quality technicaltraining for our people in Wealth and Asset Management audit practice, as wellas coaching and developing teams in technical accounting matters on a day today basis. Skills and attributes for success:

  • Expertise in UK GAAP or IFRS
  • Execute work efficiently, delivering excellentservice providing support to the assurance process with appropriateconsideration of risk
  • Ability to identity the key areas of financialreporting risk within a clients business and apply focus to appropriateareas.
  • Utilise existing knowledge and experience, butcontinuously striving to widen expertise in financial reporting and relatedmatters.
  • Confidence to challenge audit team or clientconclusions where appropriate, and ability to assist in bringing resolution toareas of disagreement.
  • Be recognised as a respected advisor to auditpartners (and teams), with your views actively sort out on a variety ofmatters.
  • Be pro-active in identifying and driving forwardinitiatives which make a difference either internally and/or to ourclients
  • Adhere to and enforce the firms risk managementpolicies and quality agenda
  • Be recognised as a respected and supportivementor, coach and counsellor
  • To qualify for the role you must have:
  • Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, UKregulations and UK company law gained within the Financial Servicessector
  • ACA/CA/ACCA (ICAEW, ICAS, ICAI or equivalentinternational qualification)
  • Experience in advising on accounting for complextransactions applying proven industry knowledge
  • Ability to articulate a technical argument,involving good judgement when identifying the key drivers
  • Able to network effectively and buildrelationships with individuals and clients
  • Ideally, youll also have:
  • External audit, financial reporting or accountingpolicy experience, preferably within the Wealth and Asset Managementsector
  • Project management skills, to ensure differentworkflows are completed on a timely basis
  • Honours degree qualified (orequivalent)
  • Familiarity with the reporting requirements forquoted, AIM and other UK securities markets
  • Team and peer leadership skills
