Job Description

We are excited to recruit a new Senior Communications Officer, in Surrey County Councils Communications department. This person will support the planning, implementation and evaluation of Surrey County Councils Community Protection Group communications using relevant tools and channels. The Community Protection Group includes:

  • Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS)
  • Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards
  • Coroners Service
  • Military Conveyance
  • Emergency planning
    • They will support the Communications Account Manager as a subject specialist for either department or communications service and play a key role in the production of high quality promotional material and the identification of positive stories about the work of the organisation and staff.They will also support the handling of both reactive and proactive media enquiries, with the wider communications team.Regularly in the news, SFRS requires first class media handling, so experience with journalists as well as demonstrating your ability to land complex messages directly with residents is desirable.This role varies in regard to supporting both internal and external communications, changing between strategic and creative projects.Deputising for line manager will also be a responsibility.
