We aim to build a market leadership position in the UK, deepening relationships with the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office as well as pursuing development and social impact projects for a diverse range of government, foundations, private and multilateral clients. We are expanding our Global Development Practice with investment in key technical roles across Governance, Health, Economic Growth and Climate, to provide deep technical expertise across projects and proposals for various donors globally.The OpportunityThe Senior Adviser for Health will work closely with the Abt Britain Managing Director, the Global Health Lead and Head of Technical Delivery and Growth Strategy, with responsibilities for:
  • Strategy: Develop strategy for Abt Britain that informs and leads to a pipeline of business opportunities for expanding the health portfolio in UK/European markets.
  • Growth: Work closely with business development teams to provide technical excellence for bids to grow Abt Britains portfolio of health projects
  • Technical delivery and Quality: Establish, manage, and lead the Abt Britain multi-disciplinary health team and oversee implementation of existing and new health portfolio projects and ensuring quality of execution.
  • Thought leadership: Network globally with health institutions and expert groups and provide thought leadership in priority areas alongside the global health community.
  • This is a lead technical position preferably based in London, which requires an individual who will work with Abt Associates multi-disciplinary expertise around the globe, in areas such as programme design, appraisal, implementation and evaluation. The post-holder will establish and lead the health team for Abt Britain to further develop the portfolio of existing and new health projects; as well as establish and maintain strong networks with key stakeholders (donors, governments, civil society, academia, private sector) and represent Abt Associates in external forums on health-related issues.About You We are seeking an individual for this strategic position who will bring:
  • Masters in Public Health or equivalent
  • Substantial experience working on public health priorities in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, and use epidemiology principles and techniques to measure and monitor health and its determinants
  • Experience as Chief of Party/Team Leader on medium or large-scale multi-year projects with exemplary record of delivering results, including effective representation and donor liaison
  • Long track record of programme delivery, including managing teams and budgets, in health and experience in a senior management position, for example overseeing a practice area in a consulting company
  • Proven leadership and staff management capabilities within a small team
  • A range of networks across the UK, Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South Asia (donors, delivery partners, governments and other national and international actors)
  • Ability and willingness for international travel with UK working rights
