The German Historical Institute London (GHIL) is an academically independent institution and forms part of the Max Weber Foundation German Humanities Institutes Abroad. It promotes research on medieval and modern history, in particular on the history of Britain, on the British Empire and the Commonwealth, and on Anglo-German relations. Its research library specializes in German history. The GHIL is looking to appointOne Research AssistantPart-time (10 hours per week) to a fixed-term post for 12 months, based in London WC1A 2NJ starting in January 2021.The position involves researching and designing an exhibition for the three-year International Standing Working Group (ISWG) Medialization and Empowerment led by the GHIL. The ISWG forms part of the international research project "Knowledge Unbound: Internationalization, Networking, Innovation in and by the Max Weber Stiftung." It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.The Working Group investigates the ways feminist ideas circulated in twentieth-century mass media, and how media shaped society and activism. These questions are explored in a global context, involving partners at research institutions in Britain, Germany, India, and beyond.The research assistant will:
