Do you want to play a leading part in an exciting new project to build the communications, digital and storytelling capability of mental health charities in the UK, empowering them to drive behaviour and policy change to tackle the looming increase in mental health issuesWe are looking for a dynamic, proactive and organised individual with a demonstrable track record of successful project management, delivery and completion. Reporting to the Director of Charity Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of this exciting new project. Applicants should have proven experience of successful project management in the charity sector including administering and monitoring project timelines and budgets, and a good track record of working with, managing, and getting the best out of partners and project participants. We are looking for a strategic thinker and detailed project manager with strong skills in media and communications in particular digital media and campaigns, as well as in designing and delivering training and events. Our ideal candidate is an experienced programme manager who is passionate about mental health and ideally has lived experience either as a person with mental health issues or a carer or from working or volunteering with people with mental health problems.Media TrustWe strive to bridge the gap between the media industry and charities, under-represented communities and young people to give them a stronger voice. We do this by promoting capacity building for charities and skills-based volunteering by the media and creative sector, empowering young people from diverse backgrounds to work in the industry and facilitating constructive multi-stakeholder dialogue and collaboration. Each year, Media Trust boosts the communications capabilities and skills of thousands of charities and community groups across the UK. We offer a unique blend of training, mentoring and content creation support, all designed to strengthen the communication and digital skills, and impact of charities to influence the media, policy and the public. We have an extensive network of 40 corporate partners including adamandeveDDB, BBC, BBH, Channel 4, Edelman, Facebook, Google, Guardian Media Group, ITV, Sky and Twitter to name a few, who we work closely alongside to deliver our programmes.BackgroundThis new project will work with mental health charities to help them develop and implement clear and compelling communications that inspires action, builds movements and drives behaviour and policy change. We know that communications is vastly underfunded and understaffed across the charity sector, notably in small mental health organisations. This is why we are launching this new year long programme combining in-depth media and communications training, and mentoring for a cohort of mental health charities, while developing free resources to build the skills, knowledge and confidence of the wider mental health sector in the UK. Part of the programme will also involve media interview training for individuals with lived experience of mental health problems to share their story in the media.Working as part of our passionate, energetic and high performing Charity Services team, you will have responsibility for managing the launch, delivery and evaluation of this exciting 12-month project. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for mental health with a background in media and communications, particularly digital media, and managing training and capacity building projects. This is a demanding but fulfilling role which will give you broad exposure to UK mental health charities, as well as the media and creative industry.Key responsibilitiesProject Management
