Job Description

Are you an experienced communications professional or journalist seeking a fast-paced and rewarding role If so, wed like to hear from you!The Communications team within HM Treasury is looking to recruit a Press Officer. We are hard-working team playing a key role in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.In this rewarding and fast-paced role you will help lead the governments communication on infrastructure and the regions - explaining how what we do affects peoples everyday lives. Youll also be a key player in communicating government support for businesses (both during the pandemic and beyond!) and will lead on ministerial media engagement as the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasurys Press Secretary.Key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Developing effective and powerful communications strategies to help promote the Chancellors priorities and wider government agenda.
  • Delivering high-quality comms activity, including briefing and advising the Exchequer Secretary and accompanying on Ministerial visits.
  • Building strong partner relationships with Number 10 and across Whitehall to ensure cross-government communications are joined-up and effective.
  • This post would be an excellent opportunity for a collaborative individual with excellent judgement who is looking to develop their career in the heart of government communications.
