We have a vision for the future built on the positive potential of technology. We believe that collaboration across business, government and society is central to this ambition. By providing expertise and insight, we support our members, partners and stakeholders as they prepare for the future. The organisation represents around 850 companies as members. Collectively they employ approximately 700,000 people, about half of all tech sector jobs in the UK. These companies range from leading FTSE 100 companies to new innovative start-ups. The majority of our members are small and medium-sized businesses.techUK has established itself as the voice of the tech industry in UK and is the go-to organisation for industry players, government, regulators and influencers and other stakeholders in the digital economy. In 2020 we undertook a major relaunch and rebranding exercise to position ourselves and our members as the essential organisation for the UK to become the digital nation of significance and a globally successful tech enabled economy. We want to own the story and set the pace of UKs transformation to a high skill value country in the next decade.Role PurposeThis role will support the Head of AI and Digital Identity in delivering a successful programme of work and activities to ensure techUK remains relevant, credible and influential in the AI and Digital Ethics community, debate and discussion. This role will build on techUKs already established work in this area including the annual Digital Ethics Summit, now in its fourth year, and engagement with key bodies including the CDEI and Ada Lovelace Institute. In particular this role will be responsible for ensuring techUKs understanding, insight, foresight and views on ethical issues being raised by the development and use of emerging AI and other technologies, including facial recognition, remains up to date, responsive to events of the day and relevant to the public debate happening across the UK and EU.The role will develop and deliver thought leadership that continues to position techUK as a leader in the digital ethics community and debate. It will ensure techUKs point of view and voice on digital ethics and AI issues is clear, compelling, relevant to members and how the AI industry is evolving and can support the development of coherent and relevant policy recommendations for our members. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an intellectually stimulating, fast-paced, high profile area of techUKs work. This role requires someone who can consider and analyse the short, medium and long term implications and impact on the UK economy, society and technology sector of development in AI and digital ethics and develop techUKs overall narrative, messaging and policy recommendations that are responsive and reactive to technological development and shifting trends. Also someone who has the communication skills, confidence and drive to grow their own public profile, reputation and that of techUK in the current AI and digital ethics debate and discussion.Role responsibilities
