The Royal Academy of Music is seeking to appoint a new Head of Woodwind to succeed Keith Bragg, who is stepping down in January 2021 after a tenure of 19 successful years leading the Department. The Woodwind Department has a worldwide reputation for excellence, with many alumni holding leading positions in the music profession. Talented young musicians from all parts of the world are taught by a Faculty of distinguished musicians, supplemented by a roster of eminent Visiting Professors.The next Head of Woodwind will build on these achievements, maintaining the Departments reputation in a time of great change for the musical world. This will require charismatic leadership, strategic imagination, and the ability to manage a cohesive and purposeful team of distinguished musicians and teachers and to instil an ethos of mutual support and ambition in the department.You will be a performer of outstanding calibre, and a proven teacher and trainer of woodwind players at the highest level as well as an experienced and demanding ensemble director and coach. You will work closely with the Deputy Principal and other heads of departments to enhance the overall work of the Academy in solo performance, orchestral projects and chamber music.
