We are seeking a fundraising trustee who can provide both strategic and practical advice and support, together with the enthusiasm and motivation to contribute their time and skills to the UK-based trust for this school. This is an exciting time to join, offering the opportunity to contribute their skills and experience in helping us develop the next phase of our fundraising strategy. We welcome those new to trusteeship.About the RoleThe Charitable Trust for the Tongabezi Trust School (Tujatane) is an established school providing free, quality, holistic education to approximately 280 underprivileged and vulnerable Zambian children in a rural village close to Livingstone. The skills and core values they learn at the school enable them to become successful, kind adults, who can improve the lives of those around them. The Charitable Trust is based in the UK and registered with the Charity Commission (1096710). Trustees comprise a small, committed team, managing the sponsorship and other donations that enable the school to provide this much needed education.Trustees meet approximately 4-5 times a year, including an annual strategy day, and also provide help and support between meetings as their time allows. Meetings take place in central London most of the time, or via Zoom when necessary. The school employs a full-time Fundraising Manager based in Zambia, and there would be some liaison with them. All trustees are encouraged to visit the school at least once every five years, and where necessary, funding for expenses may be available.Further information about the school and its history can be accessed on the website: , as well as on the Charity Commission website.About YouWe recruit on the basis of identified needs.
