Job Description

Job title: Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Reviews MaterialsReporting to: Chief EditorLocation: LondonClosing date: February 9th 2021Nature Reviews Materials have an exciting opportunity for a materials scientist to join the Nature Reviews Materials editorial team as an Associate or Senior Editor working on all aspects of the journal. We are particularly interested in applicants with a background in materials chemistry, energy materials and/or sustainability, but we would welcome applications from outstanding candidates in any area of materials science.Main duties of role:

  • Editing
  • Commissioning
  • Organizing peer-review
  • Writing
  • Conference attendance
  • This is a challenging and intellectually stimulating role that calls for a keen interest in the practice and communication of materials science. You will commission articles, edit manuscripts, organise peer review, write for the journal, and develop the journals website, social media presence and attend virtual meetings. You must be prepared to travel, when appropriate and as required, to attend on site meetings, conferences and lab visits.Ideally, you will have broad scientific knowledge and excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preference will be given to candidates with the following key attributes:
  • A PhD in a materials science-related discipline
  • A demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language
  • Experience that indicates a proactive approach and excellent organizational skills
