Job Description

If you enjoy creating a well-presented and safe environment, then join the team at Wellesley Hospital in Wellington as a Maintenance Assistant and be a valued member of the service.As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the services facilities are fit for purpose and will regularly conduct audits to identify and repair any faults. You will work 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm.Working alongside an established team, you will turn your hand to all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.As you help the service to focus on improving the wellness of others, it’s our job to take care of you.   • Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance
  • Ensuring a high standard of maintenance is achieved in all areas
  • Ensuring that all aspects of health and safety and operational policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Supporting the completion of PPM checks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensuring good practices of health and safety are followed.
  • Co-ordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site
  • Ensuring the completion of all contractor paperwork and tool checks on entry/exit of the site
  • Completion of individual tool checks in line with local procedures
  • Escorting of contractors whilst on site and complying with security requirement’s
  • Completing allocated individual tasks – Maintenance Requests which will include repairing/replacing any broken/damaged item within the general building trade.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work on own initiative
  • Reviewing daily work sheets and prioritising tasks accordingly and complete as directed
  • Completing maintenance security checks
  • Taking care of all internal and external gardens
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
  • Basic numeracy and literacy
  • General building trade experience
  • Ability to paint and decorate
  • To be helpful with a “can do” attitude
  • Ability to adapt – be practical
  • To be conscientious and team focused
  • Your own transport
  • Face to face experience of dealing with people
  • Ability to work under pressure, and responding to the Maintenance Manager instruction
