Job Description

About the Service / DepartmentKeswick Road is a delightful Victorian house set in a Conservation area of Putney. It is a mixed dwelling comprised of seven bedsits, each with their own kitchen and shower room. On entry there is a large hallway leading to the communal kitchen, staff office,laundry room and lounge that leads out into the communal garden to rear of the property.Keswick Road is a low supported accommodation, staffed Monday-Saturday 9-5, and there staff are at hand to support residents with appointments, writing letters or arranging meetings with care co-ordinators or housing issues. Keswick Road is ideally situatedbetween Upper Richmond Road and West Hill and is close to local shops and amenities. It has excellent transport links to Putney High St, Roehampton, Barnes and Wandsworth. The Nearest Underground is East Putney Station and Putney Station.About the role

  • Clearly articulate the aims and objectives, pathway and service model to people using the service so they can fully participate in and co-produce their support.
  • Empower service users to engage effectively in their liaisons with professionals within thecommunity such as community mental health teams, social work teams, housingproviders, health professionals, Job Centre Plusetc.
  • Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage and that contractualobligations aremet.
  • Develop co-produced group activities, peer support networks and other community-based approaches to empowering service users to achieve their goals and aspirationsand to encourage service users to access theseopportunities.
  • Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety and security of the service and its users ensuring all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures.
  • Participate in the core work of the service, providing support to colleagues, carrying outtasks allocated by the service manager and using initiative to identify and deal withadditional tasks as theyarise.
  • Assist the manager to manage health and safety, repairs and maintenance of thepremises.
  • Collect rents and service charges, and manage arrears proactively by following policy, protocol and procedure to support residents to maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills by paying service charges & rent.
  • Provide support the Team Manager and Senior Recovery Worker to manage voids acrosstheservice.
  • Empower service users to develop independent living skills as part of a planned move onprocess.
  • Assist the Team Manager and Senior Recovery Worker to plan, negotiate and managebudgets and to make best use of property, equipment and informationtechnology.
About you
  • Knowledge of issues affecting those individuals with a range of mentalhealth conditions including crisis management, how to communicateeffectively with these individuals and how to support them with dignityandrespect.
  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislationi.e.Care ProgramApproach (CPA)processes.
  • Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range ofrecoveryapproaches.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to overseeinduction of new peer staff andvolunteers.
  • Ability to work with statutory services i.e. NHS at the front line.
  • Awareness of health and safetyissues.
  • Ability to work Monday to Sunday 9.00am -5.00pm including workingbankholidays.
  • Good IT skills that including a working knowledge of functions in MSWord, Outlook and theinternet.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills, able to produce clear writtencorrespondence in hard copy oremail.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability toaddress themappropriately.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who haveexperienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues.
