Job Description

Role Overview Due to significant growth opportunities and contract expansion within Retail and consumer we are looking for experienced Transport Planner to join our Grocery Sector and support our expansion.Who are weWincanton is a leading third party logistics (3PL) and supply chain solutions provider in the UK and Ireland.   • Responsible for producing cost efficient operational transport plans on a daily basis, using specific customer IT software
  • Giving direction and monitoring performance that assists the Planning Manager in ensuring the department runs efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure the department provides a quality first class service to the customer and stores though careful planning, identifying resource requirements for external / promotional uplifts
  • To ensure minimum use of fleet hire and when used ensure timely collection / return
  • Ensure all activities in line with budget
  • Ensure department complies with health and safety legislation
  • Assist with project work to optimise schedules and synergies with Wincanton.
    • What will you bring
  • Experience of working within a temperature-controlled distribution environment with full knowledge of transport legislation an advantage
  • Knowledge of computerised routing and scheduling systems is essential, Paragon experience highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of warehouse processes an advantage
  • Experience of working within a unionised environment
  • Excellent PC skills in Microsoft Excel essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
