Job Description

Plumber/Mechanical EngineerWakefield16.50-17 p/hmon-fri daysThe Role: Akton recruitment on behalf of their client are looking to recruit a fully reliable and competent Mechanical Engineer/Plumber who can work on their own initiative, within a team or through overseeing subcontractors to produce high quality reports on their findingsand work.The primary role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical Buildings Services Engineering Assets, ensuring all activities are completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the contracted output specificationsand processes/procedures. This includes supervision of subcontractors.The successful candidate will have the ability to fault find and diagnose and rectify complex mechanical faults and issues unaided as well as the competency to plan and oversee mechanical plant isolation and shutdowns for maintenance, inspection or remedialworks.Key Responsibilities:Client/Customer

  • Timely response to verbal and written requests
  • Production of information for quotations and to co-ordinate quotations with the site facilities manager
  • Support the Helpdesk as required when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance
  • Ensuring that plant faults/defects are remedied to maintain plant in serviceable order
  • To ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment, including the wearing of uniform and PPE and that a professional image is presented and kept at all times
  • Complete all relevant paperwork/CAFM regarding PPM, reactive and breakdown works and that it is passed without delay to the contract administrator.
Compliance
  • To gain technical appointments as required and to ensure that works are covered by the issue of a PTW and Isolation Certificates to subcontractors and staff
  • Produce condition/dilapidation reports as required
  • Ensure Plant Logs are always kept up to date
  • Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks undertaken
  • To carry out any other tasks as directed by the Account Management team
  • Ensuring work is completed to the standards of the companies health and safety policy
  • Ensuring all test equipment is within calibration and Method Statements and Risk Assessments are followed for all works
Skills and Qualifications EssentialTime served Mechanical/Plumbing Apprenticeship to C&G - BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentHave an excellent knowledge of Mechanical systems and componentsDesiredExperience with High Pressure SystemsWorking at HeightCOSSH AwarenessBG01/02 ExperienceIOSH Managing Safety/Nebosh
