We are currently working with one of Londons leading hospitals to find Mortuary Assistants for an initial period of 12 weeks.We are looking for people who have experience working within a morgue. Ideally somebody who is APT qualified or with equivalent experience.Key Responsibilities:· To undertake routine and advanced post mortem duties within the Mortuary· To organise, co-ordinate and attend viewings of deceased persons· Prepare the deceased for viewing· To undertake technical and clerical duties within the Mortuary section of the Laboratory· To liaise with families of the deceased, funeral directors and other agenciesPerson Specifications:· IT skills· Experience of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)· Experience and knowledge of advanced autopsy, forensic and infection procedures· Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent knowledge plus experience· Good communication skills, being able to deal with recently bereaved relatives with empathy and the necessary consideration regarding sensitive situations; staff at all levels of the organisation and staff from external agencies with both tact and diplomacy whilst maintaining the necessary levels of confidentiality at all times· Good interpersonal skills· Frequently required to deal with information of a highly sensitive nature in the appropriate manner· Frequently required to deal with sensitive situations.· Ability to recognise improvements within the work area· Effectively organise and prioritise own work and work of others· Attention to detail at all times but particularly important when checking documentation· Good time management skills· Excellent attention to detail· Maintain accuracy and precision, whilst under pressure· Multi-tasking skills· Be able to dress, undress, lift and manoeuvre bodies using a body hoist/without aids, deal with obese and bariatric bodies
