Job Description

We are looking for an experienced accountant to work within a successful commercial business in this newly created Assistant Financial Controller role. Working directly for the VP of Finance you will be joining a business that has an inclusive and collaborativeculture and that values its people highly.As someone who thrives in a busy and challenging environment you will have experience in, producing monthly financial reports, cashflow management and year end activities. Fully supported by an experienced manager you will seek to develop your financialskills and demonstrate a strong work ethic.The job

  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and reports are delivered with integrity
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are conducted on a monthly basis
  • Carry out transaction processing to support the preparation of accounting records
  • Ensure accurate and strict cash management to include credit control, reconciliations, and supplier payments
  • Prepare and submit VAT and other relevant government returns
  • Play a key role in the preparation of the financial reporting and analysis of variances.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Take an active role in proposing and implementing improvements to ways of working and internal reporting.
  • Work with group in the US to ensure all reporting is in line with business processes and procedures
  • Ensure all foreign exchange is recorded accurately
  • Monitor deferred income regularly
  • Conduct data analysis to inform management decision making
  • Support VP with forecasting and budgeting activities
  • Ensuring accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines
  • Assist in preparation for year end audits and statutory reporting
The person specification
  • Ideally qualified candidate ACCA/CIMA/ACA or finalist - exceptional qualified by experience candidates may be considered
  • At least 5 years experience of working within an accounts department
  • Strong technical accounting skills to include monthly management accounts preparation
  • Thorough practical knowledge of purchase and sales ledgers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT and financial systems skills - Sage 50 experience would be ideal
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Positively instinctive within a finance context
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Be adaptable and happy to take on new challenges.
Salary & benefits
  • Salary is up to 45,000 per annum depending on experience
