Job Description

Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant for our public sector client based in East Lothian.Start Date: ASAPContract Length: 4 weeks initiallyPay Rate: £10.85 per hourHours: Monday-Friday (10am-6pm)Location: Tranent (EH33)Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and appliances regularly
  • Support chefs and cooks with various tasks
  • Keep track of inventory levels and report when supplies need replenishing
  • Follow health and safety regulations, as well as food handling and storage guidelines
  • Assist in serving food to residents or transferring prepared dishes to serving areas
  • Continuously learn and improve skills related to food preparation and kitchen operations
Key Skills:
  • Knowledge of food safety principles and ability to follow proper hygiene and sanitation practices
  • Proficiency in basic food preparation tasks
  • Ability to wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment efficiently, either by hand or using dishwashing machines
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, equipment, and appliances
  • Basic organizational skills to keep the kitchen area orderly and assist with inventory management
  • Able to work with other kitchen staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen
  • Capacity to adapt to a fast-paced kitchen environment, particularly during peak hours
