Job Description

About the role:You will maintain the efficient operation of a Sludge treatment Thermal Hydrolysis plant, steam generator and Sewage Treatment Works, carrying out sampling activities through work being generated through hand-held devices.You will perform a range of assigned jobs including testing, routine checks, maintenance, problem solving and optimisation to ensure that the sewage treatment and sludge treatment assets in the area run safely and to cost whilst remaining compliant with our various Environmental obligations and power generation.

  • Working as part of a small team, you will be required to carry out routine operations and basic process maintenance at various treatment works across the Crawley STW.
  • Ideally you should have an understanding of sewage and sludge treatment processes and front line maintenance, for which training and development will be given in specific tasks associated with the job where required.
  • Duties include the cleaning and basic operation of a range of plant and equipment associated with the sewage treatment process, including sampling, fault finding, quality testing, optimisation and maintenance.
  • Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance is met. Undertaking safety and security checks.
  • To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:This is an outside, hands on role and very rewarding for someone who wants to get stuck in and be part of a team who play an invaluable role for serving our customers.
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely is essential along with basic IT skills.
  • You must be prepared to be trained in the following: Steam Utilisation, Boiler house training and will eventually gain BOAS O accreditation.
  • Understanding of operating procedures relevant to a Technician role.
  • You will be team player and must be passionate about your own personal development and keen to learn a new industry.
  • You will have completed, or be prepared to work towards Process National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Training.
  • You must be prepared to regularly undertake stand-by duty out of normal working hours as required by the needs of the business.
  • As you will be driving to and from other sites, a full UK current driving licence is also essential.
