Job Description

Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.About the role:To maintain, repair and optimise the performance of a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines located across various Thames Water sites.This role involves extensive travel across the Thames Water region and therefore we are happy for candidates to apply from a home location encompassing the whole of Thames Water. The successful candidate will then be assigned their nearest Thames Water CHPsite as their base locationDuties will include:

  • To carry out the planned and unplanned maintenance of the fleet of CHP Spark Ignition generators
  • Work with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out safely, with the least possible downtime and within budget
  • Completion of service records and reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Demonstrating a zero compromise attitude towards health, safety and wellbeing in all aspects of work
  • Ensuring excellent customer service at all times
To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
  • HNC, C&G or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering
  • Electrical qualification is a distinct advantage
  • Plus at least 3 years hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines, associated plant and control systems
  • Gas engine, CHP, and gas system experience desirable but not essential
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Full UK driving licence
We are also looking for the following competencies:
  • In depth knowledge of all aspects of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
  • Ability to carry out thorough, comprehensive and methodical diagnostics on engine, generator and associated systems
  • Ability to operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls, such as ComAp, DIA.NE and TEM Evo
  • Competent to work to a high level of quality, alone or as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy
