Job Description

About the role:The role of the Electrical Technician is to perform a range of assigned front line activities including testing, routine checks, maintenance and problem solving to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. In some cases, this may include planned and preventative maintenance of equipment to support the operation of the plant.Key Accountabilities:

  • Completion of mandatory maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair to electrical plant.
  • Accurately reporting faults and recording work and asset information to improve business performance using the handheld device.
  • Personal responsibility for health and safety of self and colleagues.
  • Making sure the work area and tasks have a risk assessment including a SHE 5 completed for all job activities.
  • Having an awareness of budget position and how unplanned events can impact on the budget (e.g. tanker/plant/pump hire, etc.)
  • Attending all team meetings, engaging with safety briefings and company communications, identifying issues and raising constructive feedback with the management team, with suggestions for improvements.
  • Typical working hours will be Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 15:36, working 38 hours a week.
  • To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:Are you a qualified electrician and who has electrical experience working on industrial plant equipment Have you completed an apprenticeship, or have a BTEC HNC or equivalent in an electrical subject To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate that you are an experienced Electrical Engineer.We are looking for an apprenticeship-served, 18th edition electrician with industrial experience. Due to the nature of this role domestic experience is not suitable. You must have the ability to work with minimum supervision and have knowledge of health and safety issues ideally relevant to the water industry.The ideal candidate will have experience in a relevant operational environment. You will have basic literacy and numeracy skills and must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures including Confined Space Entry and working with Toxic Gases. Due to the nature of the role a full, valid UK driving licence is required.What’s in it for you:Our Technicians and Engineers are a vital component in what we do at Thames Water.
