Summary The role represents an opportunity to join an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic Collections Team at an exciting time, as we develop our offer as one of the National Trusts 28 Treasure Houses and continue to deliver first-class conservationwork. Youll assist with day-to-day cleaning and care of the property and undertake vital conservation work. The team thrive in a fast-paced environment that is full of variety, with an opportunity to work with a vast range of historic materials, meaning no dayis the same! Working 24 hours per week within the house team, youll work collaboratively with volunteers and visitors to bring the eccentric history of Calke to life.If you have any questions about the role, please do not hesitate to contact Megan Hunter, Collections & House Officer at .uk What its like to work here Calke Abbey is a vast and atmospheric home to an extensive and complex collection of over 30,000 objects, ranging from the finest textiles to the most unusual of curios. The distinctive Spirit of Place and abandoned appearance ofmany of our rooms, calls for a unique approach to our conservation. The mantra Repair not Restore is at the heart of what we do. Our work here balances managing the precious interiors and objects, whilst ensuring that the 100,000+ visitors we welcome annually,can access and engage with Calke and its fascinating stories.Youll report to the Collections & House Officer and work alongside three other Collections Assistants. What youll be doing Youll take part in our day-to-day conservation cleaning routines acrossCalke Abbey, St. Giles and Staunton Harold Church, undertaking pest and environmental checks and updating collections records as well as our annual conservation work in the mansion. Youll assist with the supervising and training of conservation volunteers, and youll be a part of delivering excellent customer service by sharing your knowledge and helping to inspire others.
