Job Description

Quality Assurance Manager Location: North West CambridgeSalary: £58-£60kDoyou want to work for a world leading, award winning business based in CambridgeshireWe want to hear from you!The main purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services that surpass customer and stakeholder expectations. Implement and maintain standardised processes and procedures across all company functions to achieve consistent,exceptional quality.Working closely with the CEO your main responsibilities will be:

  • Propose and implement improvements to enhance the reliability and quality of products and services.
  • Continuously collect, compile, and analyse data to identify areas for quality improvement, utilising problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5Why, fishbone diagrams, etc.
  • Maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and stay updated on regulatory requirements and compliance standards
  • Develop and promote policies, processes, and procedures for QMS, including quality and environmental aspects.
  • Facilitate the creation of standardised work instructions for company processes and procedures in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Manage internal and external auditing programs to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.
  • Provide performance data for QMS reviews to senior management.
  • Identify training needs and ensure company-wide compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Train and coach staff on quality and environmental functions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish contracts regarding quality with customers and suppliers.
  • Act as a liaison, host, and company representative for external auditing bodies related to Quality and Environment functions.
  • Work with the supply chain to assess and monitor suppliers for quality production materials.
  • Contribute to and undertake Quality Gate Reviews for the introduction of new products.
  • Collaborate with Engineering departments to conduct reliability testing of products under development.
  • Formulate standards for inspecting production materials and accepting certificates of conformity.
  • Manage responses to field issues, customer complaints, and Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA).
  • Prevent the recurrence of major quality problems.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the line manager as required.
Key Skills/Experience Required:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, preferably in the development and manufacturing of electronics in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of quality improvement, problem-solving, and analysis techniques (e.g., TQM, 5Why, 8D, R&R Studies, FMEA, Ishikawa diagrams, SPC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build cohesive relationships across all areas of the company and with external entities.
  • Competence in spreadsheets and statistical analysis of yields and failure mechanisms, including data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and critical/logical thinking skills.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and facilitation skills to address issues collectively and lead continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of the reliability of electronic components and electronic equipment, such as MTBF and failure mechanisms, would be highly beneficial.
