Aspire Cambridge are recruiting for a New Product Discovery Scientist on behalf of our client in Swavesey, Cambridgeshire.Our prestigious client is a manufacturer of infection control, contamination control and hygiene products.A Day in the Life: * Carrying out research and development work on top level plans provided by Head of Research and Development.* Investigating "offshoots" from main NPD plans for potential enhancement opportunities whilst maintaining focus on core objectives.* Liaising with external laboratories to commission confirmatory testing to validate laboratory finding.* Accurately recording costs associated to the R and D projects and working within predefined budgets for external testing programmes.* Carrying out scientific literature reviews to target research and allow the filtering of potentially unsuccessful avenues.* Liaising with suppliers to ensure materials used in the NPD process can be readily sourced for production level requirements, whilst in adherence of prevailing regulations.* Ensuring that lab scale findings are commercially scalable within the constraints of current plant equipment or justify reasonable investment in plant and machinery.What youll need:* Minimum of a degree level science qualification and a minimum of 5 years experience in NPD or research and development roles. * Strong creative, analytic and organisational skills.* Excellent relationship building skills.* Proven "wet chemistry" experience and history of working predominately in a laboratory environmentDesirable skills/experience: * Masters degree or higher in a science discipline* Knowledge and interest in healthcare and scientific industries* Experience working within Household, industrial and institutional (HI&I) sectors* Experience working with reactive chemistries (bleaching detergents, glues, petrochemical, catalysis etc)Start: Immediate Location: Swavesey, CambridgeshireHours: 9-5.30pm Monday - FridaySalary: £28,000-£34,000If you are interested in this position, feel you have the relevant experience and skills and would like to apply, please call our team on or apply online.
