Job Description

Unipart Logistics (UL) has secured a contract to run the new, custom-built Jaguar Land RoverGlobal Parts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rovers new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. With a multimillion-pound major facility investmentprogram already underway, we would like you to join us now to be part of the core team. It allows everyone in our team to pursue their own personal and professional goals to a world class level, through Uniparts From Gate to Great training and development program.As Packaging Technician / Engineer, you will have overall responsibility to provide support to the Unipart packing solutions operation related to packaging specification.Packaging Technician Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with external packaging providers and JLR ensuring the packaging is cost effective and fit for purpose
  • New Parts Introduction (NPI)
  • Plan and update new parts packaging specification is completed in a timely manner in line with JLRs requirement and SLA
  • Maintain correct packaging specification data in Ipos and UBS SAP
  • Maintain packaging specification and ensure that it is consistent across similar products
  • Ensure packaging specification is in line with Health and safety requirement
  • Ensure packaging design is suitable for handling and storage
  • Ensure packaging design is cost effective
  • Support in-house packer at bench to ensure correct weights and dims and correct consumables considered
  • Responsible to deliver on time projects requests from the client
  • Support in house packer to reduce SUP and design new ways of packing using different types of materials to protect parts keeping costs down
  • Weekly reporting to the Commercial Manager on NPI tracker, cost savings on materials including labour costs
  • Support and improve other areas of business: Global warehouse issues relating to packaging concerns, DY damage and handling issues
Packaging Technician Requirements:Wed love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think youd be able to perform well in this role!
  • Ideally youll be an experienced Packaging Technician / Engineer
  • Administration experience - a competent user of MS Office and Google Apps experience essentialparticularly competent in Excel
  • Experience with SAP (WMS)
  • Decision making ability - youre a problem-solver who is used to continually improving processes
  • Ability to work to targets and timescales - flexible and committed to achieving team/site objectives
  • Ability to liaise with varying levels of technical staff and customers - great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to cope with the demands of a fast-moving and ever-changing set of priorities
  • Team working and collaboration with colleagues and clients come naturally to you
  • Youll have a keen interest in developing yourself
