Summary of role:The Support Worker will provide personalised support to enable individuals to live safely, happily and successfully in the community.About usWe provide community based registered care services for people with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex care needs. We provide personalised outcome based support to enable individuals with significant care and support needs to live safely,happily and successfully in the community.Our focus is to fill the gaps in accommodation and support provision for uniquely complex and challenging individuals by taking a fresh perspective to their support needs. As a support worker your primary role is to workas part of the team to enable people we support live a full and independent life. This includes a large variety of activities like going for walks, cinema, pampering, bowling, a trip out in the car and even taking the service users on holiday. Areas of responsibility:
  • Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Ensure food safety standards are upheld during food handling, storage, and preparation.
  • Accommodate special dietary needs as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Environmental Hygiene: Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the site.
  • Perform regular cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Monitor and address any environmental hazards or safety concerns promptly.
  • Engagement Activities: Organize and participate in a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of individuals we support.
  • Foster a supportive and stimulating atmosphere conducive to social interaction and mental stimulation.
  • Encourage participation and engagement to enhance overall well-being.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, observations, and any significant changes in health or behaviour.
  • Document meal consumption, medication administration, and any incidents or accidents that occur.
  • Ensuring information is readily accessible to relevant parties.
  • Incident Reporting: Promptly report any incidents, accidents, or issues that arise during support duties.
  • Document incidents thoroughly, including details of what occurred, individuals involved, and any actions taken.
  • Communicate with supervisors, healthcare professionals, and family members as appropriate to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Qualifications and Skills:Previous experience in caregiving, support work, or related fields would be an advantage although not necessary.
  • Knowledge of personal care techniques, meal preparation, and hygiene standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately and effectively with individuals of varying needs and abilities.
