Job Description

Our client a National Construction company are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to work as part of the IT Team to provide 3rd-line support to staff and services, delivering projects and spending a small percentage of time on BAU tasks. The Infrastructure Engineer is expected to be technically experienced and able to work within a team environment but equally adept of managing their individual time and workload.Responsibilities-As an Infrastructure Engineer youll be supporting and implementing core IT systems across a group of companies within the property and construction sectors.Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Work with the Head of IT to design and implement new systems, evaluate existing performance and help plan for future requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of our infrastructure and cloud strategy.
  • Optimisation and administration of servers and core equipment including the management of users accounts, end-user equipment, servers and network infrastructure.
  • Diagnosis, resolution and mitigation of any problems and incidents affecting the infrastructure or availability of the group’s IT services.
  • Research and development for emerging cloud and infrastructure technologies.
  • Provide 3rd line technical support for company users.
  • Work with other colleagues, group company services and third-party providers to ensure business services are delivered in a timely and reliable manner.
  • Utilise technical skills and experience to resolve new or unforeseen problems.
  • Working to identify and remove security vulnerabilities within the environment and further enhance the group’s cyber security.
  • Develop documentation for best practices for server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing.
  • Travel to other company sites to assist in project implementations or problem resolution as required.
    • Skills & Experience:
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate to business managers.
  • Robust experience in providing 3rd line support for corporate Infrastructure systems in a multi-site organisation.
  • Self-motivated and flexible, having the ability to work as part of a team and individually where required.
  • Experience in defining and executing a cloud migration programme of work.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, including routing and security.
  • Good working knowledge and administration of backup technologies, Veeam B&R in particular
  • Develop scripts or tools for automating administrative tasks.
    • Required Skills:
  • Strong scripting experience with PowerShell
  • Experience of supporting and deploying Azure (or AWS) Cloud Services
  • Good working knowledge of maintaining and configuring MDT task deployments
  • Strong experience in supporting Microsoft software and server systems including O365 (Exchange Online, Teams, InTune, Active directory, Group Policy, WSUS)
    • Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with Nutanix Acropolis virtualisation
  • PDQ Inventory and Deploy management
  • PRTG Monitoring configuration
  • Tenable.io
  • SQL Server administration and maintenance
  • Familiarity with Single Sign On solutions, ideally Okta.
  • Administration of Meraki networking suite including MDM
