Role: Assistant EditorBrand: Materials Recycling World (MRW)Location: Shoreditch, London, UKSalary: £30k DOEAbout Us: Materials Recycling World is the leading provider of news, insight and market analysis for the UK waste management and recycling industry. MRWs deputy editor will take a role in all aspects of the publication, with a focus ondeveloping a digital strategy.You will have a proven track record in journalism and will produce high-quality editorial output online and in print. In conjunction with the editor, you will be responsible for writing and commissioning news, analysis and features and will help set theoverall editorial direction.You will take a lead on MRWs digital output, with oversight of the website, newsletters and development of MRWs social media presence.MRW also runs a materials prices service, which you as part of the team will be expected to help develop.MRW runs conferences and the industry-leading National Recycling Awards and we work in partnership with the WasteBuild Zero show. You will need to be proactive in working with the events, marketing and accounts teams in support of these.This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious journalist to create brilliant content and influence the overall editorial direction. You will lead by example and set a high standard of quality journalism, serving the interests of an engaged audienceof subscribers. Issues over resources and waste have become central in the UK and worldwide and you will be in a position to lead the agenda and break big stories ahead of the mainstream media.You will need to show a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency. MRW is currently a small team supported by freelancers. There may be scope to take on management of others following future expansion of the team.Key accountabilities:
