Job Description

Summary This isnt just a typical investment projectyoull be working across physical improvement works, large-scale nature conversation initiatives, in-depth community engagement and partnership, and inspiring interpretation of the social, cultural and naturalheritage in Divis and the Black Mountain, as part of our internal Consultancy Service in Northern Ireland.Youll work closely with the teams who manage the day-to-day operation of these special places and will have the support of a project board and governance process to assist you.Your base location will be the office hub of Rowallane Garden, Saintfield, but there will be hybrid working arrangements with a balance of office, property and remote working. What its like to work here The Belfast Portfolio is a thriving, diverse and special collection of places across the Greater Belfast Area, stretching from the windswept coastlines of Islandmagee, to the stunning Victorian era Rowallane Gardens.We look after around 3100 acres of countryside across the edges of Belfast City Centre, including the 2600-acre Divis and The Black Mountain which is where this project work is focused.Divis and The Black Mountain, situated on the edge of North and West Belfast, forms a backdrop to the city, often overlooked or ignored due to the lack of access from the city which sits under its shadow. What youll be doing Weve secured the first of a two-phase investment in Divis and the Black Mountain totalling over £3m across 5 years. This, together with additional internal and external funding, will enable us to further our work on landscape scale nature recovery and communityengagement.Youll be leading the day-to-day delivery of these projects, managing the projects from mobilisation, through to final design and delivery phase. Youll be working across physical improvement works, large-scale nature conversation initiatives, in-depth communityengagement and partnership, and inspiring interpretation of the social, cultural and natural heritage.Youll have a small project team to support you, with the ability to draw on the expertise of your colleagues in our internal consultancy service, as well as to appoint third-party suppliers. Youll also be balancing the need to deliver the project workalongside the day-to-day operations and existing initiatives that are continuing. Who were looking for We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes
  • A recognised project (AMP PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification or you will be able to demonstrate significant project management skills and experience, and be prepared to study towards the Project Management qualification (APM PMQ)
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills, able to confidently work with senior leaders
  • Experience of managing complex and difficult external stakeholder relationships
  • Experience of managing infrastructure projects and a good understanding of natural and built heritage.
