Job Description

R&D Engineer - Laser Machiningc£35k-£37kRochford, EssexOur client is a market leader in a niche manufacturing and technology sector who are seeking to recruit an experienced and self-motivated R&D Engineer to complement their talented and successful Laser Machining team.With state of the art industrial laser cutting machinery and a bespoke R&D system, the successful candidate will become proficient in the operation of these systems at the heart of their R&D and manufacturing activity, working alongside your team-members to develop industry-leading products.As an R&D Engineer, you will assume tool ownership of existing laser marking systems and new systems as they come online and ultimately become a super-user of the in-house laser systems, supporting the manufacturing team in the industrial scale up of patented technology and processes and both identifying root causes and being instrumental in the delivery of solutions.You will deploy laser etching to design and prototype High-Frequency metal smartcards, tags and other devices and convert and optimise designs and artwork to make them laser ready, whilst preparing associated master files for operator use and developing and enhance SOPs.To be considered for this varied and challenging R&D Engineer role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have attained at least a degree level qualification or above in an Electronics, Physics or similar discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years experience of working with industrial laser systems and applications.You will essentially demonstrate a solid understanding of laser physics and laser optics and possess the ability to both build and maintain bespoke laser systems.You will be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor with previous experience with RFID systems and experience with laser usage in a manufacturing environment proving distinctly advantageous, and a full clean UK driving licence is also required as there will be occasional travel as necessary.Contact the Electronics Team at Premier Technical Recruitment on or email your cv in confidence to for further details.
