We have an exciting opportunity for a Science Technician – Mineralogy to join our Laboratory Team based in Edinburgh. Joining us on a full time, permanent basis (Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week), you will undertake and report analysis within the Mineralogy section of the analytical lab. We have UKAS accreditation for most of our routine analyses and pride ourselves on providing a high standard, quality service with a high degree of customer care.As our Science Technician – Mineralogy you will receive the following benefits: - 34 days holidays including statutory bank holidays- Salaries are reviewed annually on the 1st April- Contributory pension scheme- Income protection- Death in service benefits- Flexible benefit platform- Employee assistance program- Wellbeing HubResponsibilities as ourScience Technician – Mineralogy: - Conform to the requirements of our UKAS accreditation.- Analysis of asbestos in bulk materials and soils, asbestos fibre counting- Analysis of crystalline silica and other materials by X-ray diffraction and infra-red spectrophotometer- Analysis of asbestos and other materials by Scanning Electron Microscope/Energy Dispersive X-ray analyser (you would be trained in these techniques as required)- Liaise with customers and assist in business development, and, when required, undertake method development and validationWhat we’re looking for in our Science Technician –Mineralogy:- Ideally have an Honours Degree in earth sciences, geology, or a closely related subject- Have an interest in mineralogy- Candidates with relevant experience and who hold a BOHS P401 and/or P403 qualification will also be consideredIf you would like to be considered as our Science Technician –Mineralogy, please click “apply” now!
