Job Description

Summary We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Volunteering & Community Assistant. Youll support our House volunteers, managing them on the ground, ensuring that they are able to deliver a great visitor experience. Working with colleaguesyoull support our community engagement and partnerships, sometimes with a volunteering focus.Youll be part of the Visitor Operations & Experience team at Petworth House & Park, reporting to the Volunteering & Community Officer.To ensure 7 day cover there are two Volunteering & Community Assistants who split the week - this position will be required to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday every week.This is a fixed term vacancy until 10th March 2025.Interviews will take place Monday 11th March 2024 What its like to work here For hundreds of years, Petworth has been instrumental in nurturing now legendary artists and makers, providing the space to be inspired, to share ideas and to create new work.Petworth’s ambition is to return to this same spirit, to be a place that champions art and creativity as fundamental to life. We will put new audiences, access and participation at the centre, connecting local and regional to national and international.We are striving to put our communities, audience and supporters at the heart of everything we do and create exceptional experiences for our visitors.Volunteers are involved in every aspect of our work, with over 300 dedicated volunteers across the property. Petworth House is open 7 days a week, 363 days per year and we are supported by a team of over 200 House volunteers who are a passionate and enthusiastic.Our House volunteers bring the house to life, engage our visitors and share Petworth’s story in a variety of roles such as Room Guides, Tour Guides and Talk Volunteers.We are growing our visitor numbers, from local communities and independent adults to families.We are proud to look after a place of international significance, but our focus is firmly on becoming locally loved and relevant too. What youll be doing You’ll help make Petworth a great place to volunteer; creating positive, flexible, inclusive and safe experiences for all volunteers, partners and local communities.Youll work with the second Volunteering and Community Assistant and the Volunteering & Community Officer to help us to achieve our Volunteering and Community plan and will support colleagues, volunteers, partners and our local community.Day to day youll be the main point of contact for our House volunteers, managing and supporting them on the ground, ensuring that they are able to deliver a great visitor experience.Youll provide administrative support to ensure the smooth and consistent use of online processes and help to embed a self-service approach to enable volunteers to use our online systems.You’ll support events, the talks and tours programme and other activities as required to deliver the Volunteering and Community plan.
