Job Description

NPI Quality Engineer, Bristol Saint-Gobain is a global leader in the design, production and distribution of innovative, high performance materials. Our products are used all over the world in many industries including slip clutch applications in electric car doors improving safety, tobearing mounts in motors improving efficiencies and saving electricity.We have an exciting opportunity for a NPI Quality Engineer at our site in Bristol.This role will provide quality expertise and support during the NPI process, from initial enquiry through to successful sign off into production, using the core APQP tools. It will also mentor colleagues in the NPI process using core Quality tools such asDFMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, and ensuring Customer Quality requirements are clearly understood, considered and implemented.Key responsibilities of the role will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring compliance with internal and customer system and procedures during the NPI process
  • Providing support and expertise to the Capture team during the NPI process using the APQP core tools and the relevant customer documentation and requirements
  • Driving the development of DFMEAs for new products
  • Supporting the introduction of new gauging and measurement methodologies if and when required, and ensuring the gauge capability is known by conducting an MSA
  • Leading Quality reviews as required during the NPI process
  • Developing Quality Control plans through the development stage up to production sign off
  • Analysing and providing guidance on capability of new product prior to its introduction into production
  • Conducting initial PPAP or required documentation for the customer for new products entering production
  • Completing a formal hand over to the operational Quality team of new product into production upon completion of a successful run@rate

  • You have a degree in Engineering or you have worked your way up becoming mechanically competent, understand the theory and more importantly can put it into practice.
  • You embrace helping our Application Engineers take products from the initial concept stage with customers, all the way to production, ensuring all Internal and Customer Quality requirements are met throughout the NPI process.
  • You enjoy mentoring people through this process in the appropriate core Quality Tools and being hands-on, ensuring the relevant records are completed, as required (relevant automotive APQP experience would be advantageous).
  • You are skilled in customer relations and understand the importance of identifying their needs and requirements, to enable a smooth transition to formal production sign off of the product and process. You can hold your own when things get tough, and canovercome challenges in a way that creates a lasting credible relationship.
  • You understand that putting new products into production and meeting customer requirements can be difficult with many challenges on the way. You are the type of person who doesnt shy away from the challenges and enjoys problem solving in a systematicallyand collaborative way.
