Job Description

My client a leading Oil, Gas and Technology business based in north Bristol is urgently looking to recruit an experienced Control System/Modelling and Simulation Engineer for a permanent career opportunity. The role comes with exceptional benefitsincluding study support, high holiday entitlement and a very employee supportive culture that encourages career progression within the business.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Work in close collaboration with the technology team to drive mechanical, software and electronics development.
  • Participate in overall systems performance optimisation by pro-actively identifying deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and continuous optimisation of simulations and models including hydraulics, HILS (Hardware-in-the-loop-simulations), mechanical actuation, tool performance, sensors, closed loop controllers, data science.
  • Provide systems level insight/understanding and ensure seamless cross-functional technology integration.
  • Participate in regular tool performance reviews & root cause analyses.
  • Ensure that any applicable procedures and standards are correctly applied.
  • Lead technical presentations internally or externally as required.
  • Establish and participate in external collaborations to support and accelerate development and implementation related to modeling, simulation, performance, reliability & optimization.
  • Support development of design and product documentation, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide regular management reports on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Proactively identify and generate relevant IP opportunities.
  • Perform any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • The individual must at a minimum possess the following:
  • Good engineering or science degree, either 2.1 or better or post-graduate.
  • Min of 3 yrs experience in modelling / simulation / control systems / signal processing or product development.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Preferred qualifications/experience:
  • Any discipline considered, electrical/mechanical/systems/controls. However, must have an aptitude and appetite for taking on studies outside of the core discipline. In other words, you will want to develop expertise in other disciplines. Interest in orexposure to software engineering, either as part of modelling activities or software development.
