Job Description

Due to continual steady growth, an opportunity has now arisen at our Manchester facility for a full-time Project Engineer / Project Manager with an eye for detail and a logical approach.The role will is essentially dealing with all aspects of mechanical site work, from receiving customer enquiries to job completion. Specifically, dealing with the customer enquiry & scope definition, site measures, quote generation, and upon winning the job, co-ordinating parts procurement & internal/external site labour planning, and installation.The successful applicant will:

  • Compile quotations for work after collating all necessary info which may include site visits, contacting suppliers, referring to previous jobs, determining solutions, etc
  • On receipt of PO, Identify and order materials & nonstock items, identifying items to be manufactured in-house, providing paperwork / diagrams, sketches etc for production to facilitate manufacture or effect repairs, placing orders and providing information for sub-contract manufacture.
  • Co-ordinating site labour & external contractors to perform the site works, including cranage, haulage, scaffolding, etc
  • Compilation of RAMs and submitted in a timely manner so as to be able to deal with customer feedback as necessary
  • Site visit / surveillance visits to site work locations to check on progress
  • Processing & managing of all paperwork & record keeping, both hard copy & electronic documents
  • Typical project scopes include
  • o Replacement pumps & pipework, guards and barriers, handrailing and flooring, drive gearboxes and couplings, Archimedes screws, Detroiters, tanks, tank scrapers and tank drives, penstocks and sluices, hydraulic rams, electro=-mechanical actuators, etc.Essential skills
  • Good communication skills, and the ability to plan effectively.
  • Good understanding and ability on Microsoft Office packages, e-mail will be essential.
  • A Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing background is a requirement of the role
  • Experience of RAMS generation, and quote generation
  • Self discipline / and the ability to manage their own diary and time effectively
  • Experience of site visits to take detailed information from which to generate a customer quotation.
  • Managing multiple projects across several customers at the same time with projects ranging from £1k to £50k each
  • Driving licence
  • Advantageous skills
  • Working knowledge of SAGE
  • A formal Engineering qualification would be a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of CAD / Solidworks and understanding of reading engineering drawings.
  • Experience of wastewater industry equipment
  • Experience of producing RAMS,
  • Knowledge across a broad range of mechanical equipment, typically gained over decades of industrial exposure.
  • As this is a new role within the company there is scope to really own the role, demonstrating your ability to implement robust systems, procedures, and methods that benefit the company.This role will need the successful applicant to be organised, approachable, pro-active and have a proven track record of handling several tasks at once whist ensuring the attention to detail doesn’t waiver.Hours of work are envisaged to be 7.30 - 16.00 Monday - Thursday, 7.30 - 15.00 Fridays, but will require an element of flexibility to meet the customer needs.After an introductory period, working arrangements are predicted to require some time working from home, attendance of weekly meetings in the office and time spent on site taking details of customer needs.Applications from candidates that don’t quite match the specification are welcome where you can demonstrate similar skill set & bring added value to this new role.
