Job Description

Are you looking for aPeople HR Business Partnerrole in a dynamic and diverse organisation Do you have the skills and experience to lead, manage and motivate a small team of HR professionalsReed HR are looking for a People HR Business Partner to join anestablished public entity based in Birmingham on a 6-month fixed term contract.As a People HR Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational HR support to a designated customer department within the business. You will work closely with senior managers to understand their business needs and challengesand provide expert advice and guidance on a range of HR matters, such as workforce planning, employee relations, policy development, staff engagement and wellbeing. You will also lead and manage a small team of Assistant Business Partners, ensuring that theydeliver high-quality HR services to their customers.Salary: £46,335 per annumLocation: BirminghamHours: 37 hours – Flexible/Hybrid working, 2 days in the office, 3 days at homeAvailability: This position is immediately available.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead, manage, motivate, and coach a small team and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the People Strategy as a member of the People Directorate Management Team.
  • Recognise and implement changes to corporate policy and practice.
  • Sign off FOI and subject access requests on behalf of the Information Asset Owner, escalating items where relevant.
  • Work collaboratively with the finance team and business planning team to understand the financial and planning constraints governing change programmes.
  • Understand the immediate issues and concerns in relevant customer departments and contribute to improvement plans.
  • Contribute to discussions about the core work of the customer department, working closely with senior managers to contribute to problem solving, providing challenge and appropriate support and guidance.
  • Lead workforce planning and succession planning with customer departments, thinking ahead and anticipating possible outcomes and their impact.
  • Take responsibility for the development of a policy area, acting as a source of expert guidance for others in the team.
  • Assisting with the embedding of necessary people management and wellbeing processes and principles within customer departments.
  • Ensure that employee relations cases are run in an effective, pragmatic and timely manner.
  • Deploy mediation and problem-solving skills to resolve disputes within teams.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to the Assistant Business partners and line managers about the application of the law and best practice in relation to ER matters.
  • Personally manage complex cases and those involving senior staff.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
  • Level 7 CIPD HR qualification or working towards it.
  • Significant experience of leading and managing a HR team in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment law and best practice, and the ability to apply it pragmatically and creatively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships and influence at all levels.
