Job Description

Machine Shop Manager Technique Recruitment Solutions are a specialist Engineering & Manufacturing Recruitment company based in Norfolk. We are working closely with a strong family business whose work culture emphasises having fun and enjoyinggoing to work as they place a highvalue on work-life balance whilst putting the customer experience at the centre of everythingThe Machine Shop is a safe, pleasant and clean working environment, withlittle noiseand a motivated team.The following criteria are essential for this role:Experienced in a fast-moving, one-off/low batch machining environmentPrevious man-management experience and reviews of staffMust have excellent communication skills, as you will be communicating across multi-disciplines at all levelsExcellent IT skills with the ability to operate company systems efficientlyThis role will involve:Assessing parts for manufacture in terms of materials, geometry and tolerancingDeciding on and subsequently controlling the appropriate manufacturing route or strategy for each orderMachine Shop floor production scheduling to meet delivery priorities, allowing for machine capabilities and resourceMonitoring Assembly shop shortage demands and providing accurate, acceptable delivery dates for shortages to the Production ManagerLiaising with sub-contract precision engineer suppliers as capacity demandsMaterial, tooling and resource planning and control and delivery schedule of jobsDirect supervision of a team of skilled and semi-skilled engineers and apprenticesEnsuring accurate time records are recordedAchieving the best outcome when unforeseen incidents occur with machinery, tooling or fixturingMonitoring quality to customer approval, resolving any issues that occur in-processPerformance reviews and performance checks against scrap, attendance and record accuracyEnsure all H&S protocols are adhered toProduction engineering, work handling and storage systemsAssessing parts for manufacture in terms of materials, geometry and tolerancingOversee all work schedules, dealing with production requirementsMonitoring Assembly shop component shortage demands and providing accurate and acceptable delivery dates to the Production ManagerRecruitment and training of new staffIn addition to salary the benefits include25 days holiday + all bank holidaysAppraisal system and personal/team development opportunityAuto enrol pension 5% employee and 4% employer contributionsFree fruit on Tuesdays and ThursdaysDaily vending allowanceCompany sick schemeFlexibility around start and finish times within core hoursFree parkingCompany events
