Job Description

Mechanical FitterAre you an experienced mechanical fitter Are you looking for a challenging but rewarding career moveIf you are, we are currently recruiting to join us in the Caterpillar Peterlee facility. Pay Rate and Working Hours:
  • 36.5 hours per week
  • £17.38 per hour day shift
  • £20.86 per hour afternoon shift
  • £23.46 per hour night shift
  • £26.07 per hour overtime Monday to Saturday
  • £34.76 per hour overtime Sundays
Days:
  • Monday - Thursday, 08:00 - 16:00
  • Friday, 08:00 - 12:30
Back shift:
  • Monday - Thursday, 16:00 - 00:00
  • Friday, 12:30 - 17:00
Night shift:
  • Monday - Thursday, 00:00 - 08:00
  • Friday, 17:00 - 21:30
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Carry out fitting and assembly tasks to provide our customers with engineering solutions through our products and superior support
  • Follow all written policies and applicable procedures safely or refer to your leader for guidance
  • Prepare machines for test and assemble/disassemble parts per work instructions, engineering drawings/models, Standard Work, Risk Assessments and job routing and bills of materials
  • Ability to assemble quality products following hydraulic cleanliness standards
  • Ability to learn and teach knowledge to peers, sharing a full understanding of how and why things are done, the way they are done, and how well the hardware functions
  • Exhibit effective communications and a strong ability to appropriately use own initiative
Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive mechanical fitting / assembly experience
  • The ability to read/interpret hydraulic schematics and have basic auto electrical experience.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence e.g., improvement cards, documenting downtime, reporting non-conformitys
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships in a team-based environment
  • Good safety, quality, attendance, and performance records
  • Recognised apprenticeship and a formal training record in an engineering/heavy plant environment or similar environment
  • Basic computer skills such as operating a computer in a Windows based environment
