Job Description

Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.What you will be doingAs the Project Manager, youll be working on a portfolio of projects within the Capital Delivery Programme. We currently have specific roles on our sewers in the rail environment, sewer rehabilitation and emergency work programmes.This is an important role in supporting the delivery of complex engineering infrastructure projects which can have a value up to £100m. You will work with the Senior Project Manager in leading, developing and building a multi-disciplined team necessary to ensurethe success of the projects and programmes you are involved with.Your leadership, ownership, accountability, and contribution are key. And the success will be measured in how we deliver our projects to the business and how we ensure smooth integration into our operational business as usual.Some responsibilities for the role include:

  • Taking accountability throughout the project lifecycle, governance compliance and internal/external stakeholder engagement leading to the smooth transition into operational business
  • Development of project briefs, including supplementary information for the subsequent early contractor involvement phase of the project
  • Assisting the development and definition of the tender package(s), including the definition of the scope of works to support the Procurement team through each stage of the tender process ensuring the demanding timescales are met
  • Managing the route to consent strategy for the project, highlighting programme and project risks relating to consents required, including consideration of any potential early works
  • Management of risk issues and change in a fully transparent manner through effective reporting and escalation
  • Working collaboratively with the Communications team to define a communications plan for the project
  • Assisting the delivery of the business case and brief to ensure that it is captured and delivered through the project and engineering solution
  • Contributing to steering project-wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets
Were looking for you to:
  • Have an engineering degree or have significant experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrate excellent project management skills and contractual awareness of project management work
  • Demonstrate a strong health and safety focus
  • Have experience managing the performance of contractors and suppliers, and influencing internal and external stakeholders
  • Have a proven track record of successfully delivering capital projects
  • Possess relevant industry and business knowledge of waste networks
  • Be financially capable of running profit & loss, taking account of revenue expenditure and cash flow to deliver agreed financial goals
  • Possess a strong commercial approach with a good level of contract knowledge
  • Possess proven process improvement design and implementation capability
  • Demonstrate a strong external customer service ethic, measurement of customer satisfaction and delivering improvement for internal and external customers
