Job Description

Are you passionate about the legal field Are you highly organised with great attention to detail Are you keen to provide excellent client care Do you have prior experience working in a legal role and looking to progress to file handling, if yes then thiscould be the role for youThe Role:We are looking for someone to join our Casualty’ team based in our Horwich (near Bolton) office in the role of a Legal Assistant or Assistant File Handler’ as it’s known internally. Our Casualty team deal with defending employer liability and public liabilitycases on behalf of insurers. These cases have occurred in the work place or in a public area. The team help defend the claims in order to reduce costs for our clients. EL/PL is a sought after area of personal injury and this is a great opportunity to gainentry into this area.Accountabilities of the Role:

  • The Assistant File Handler will manage a caseload of EL/PL fixed fee cases on behalf of a number of insurance clients
  • You will work in conjunction with a more experienced file handler within the team who will be involved in setting strategies and making liability decisions, they will be there to assist and support your development
  • The role will require a forensic and analytical approach to the issues together with experience and/or appreciation of the documents and evidence required in these types of cases.
  • The work types likely to feature in the caseload are Pre-action disclosure files, Infant Approval Hearings and EL/PL files handled on a Delegated Authority basis.
  • In addition, the Assistant File Handler will support File Handlers on tasks within their caseloads.
Required skills & experience:Previous personal injury experience whether that be file handling or assistingSelf-confident with good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the businessAn ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiativeCalm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when requiredAn ability to maintain attention to detailGood Literacy & IT skillsGood team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are metDriven to achieve goals and high standards of workOur process:We have a two-stage process; a written exercise followed by an interview, usually via video link.
