Job Description

Summary This role sits within our Visitor Experience team which helps facilitate engaging people of people of all ages with the fascinating stories of Knightshayes. Inspired by our changing themes and seasonal programme, it will lead in planning and delivering activitiesfor visitors.Accommodation is provided to the postholder for the proper or better performance of his or her duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rulesThis role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.Internally you will be known as a Programming & Partnerships Officer What its like to work here Knightshayes comprises an impressive Gothic House, a renowned 20thCentury garden, a restored Victorian Walled Garden, and extensive parkland. The property serves the nearby town of Tiverton and surrounding areas, with over 650,000households within an hours drive. Over the past four years, the visitor experience at this grand gothic revival house has been transformed by introducing a year-round programme of events, activities and entertainment. The ambitious 40-member team has further plans to grow and develop Knightshayesvisitor offer and welcome creative customer-focused people to join the team. The property has one of the finest gardens in Devon with a vast plant collection and walled garden which supplies produce to the estates Stables Caf.For more information about our property please visit knightshayes-court What youll be doing Pre-covid, we were open 363 days a year with an extensive programme of events, activities and engagement opportunities throughout the year.These ranged from talks, tours and radical theatre in the house, to wildlife walks and winter lights in the garden.Emerging from the pandemic our aim remains the same. To provide the highest standards of care for everything we look after whilst working in a way that feels relevant and necessary to people and their day-to-day lives. We strive to deepen relationshipswith our supporters through meaningful engagement with our stories. We want to engage as many people as possible in the story of Knightshayes and the role of the National Trust as one of the largest conservation charities in Europe.We are now in the position to look to re-structure and re-build our visitor offer.Within that this role is responsible for the development and day-to-day delivery of the programme. In addition to building back our previous audiences, well be looking toattract new audiences too - ensuring we remain an inclusive place of participation, exploration, relaxation and inspiration.For further information, please see the attached documents. Who were looking for Wed love to hear from you if you:

  • Are someone with proven experience of delivering events and programming in a visitor facing environment- demonstrable experience of delivering programmed events is a must.
  • Have a good eye to detail and have the ability to plan as well as deliver a high-quality offer.
  • You wont shy away from getting hands on with the delivery of the programme- were a collaborative team and were all play our part.
  • Are someone with good communication skills who is able to effectively work with a wide range of people from different departments who all need to be involved in programme planning.
  • Being willing and able to see the opportunity and potential to create and deliver an engaging seasonal programme will be essential to the role. Creative thinking is a must.
