Job Description

RM Recruit are working with a Worcestershire based Multi Academy trust to hire an interim accountant for their team.Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

  • Weekly bank reconciliation of the MATs central bank account.
  • Weekly payment schedule for suppliers for the MAT following the review and approval of the Finance Director
  • Supporting the Finance Director with gathering and verifying the financial data for the monthly cash flow forecast.
  • Managing monthly VAT process and claim from the HRMC for the MAT.
  • To enter onto the financial management system all centrally delegated funding for all schools within the MAT.
  • Supporting the finance officers based in each school within the MAT
  • Overseeing sales and purchase ledgers processes so they operate effectively and accurately across the MAT to support cash flow management
  • Budgeting and forecasting management to ensure that individual budgets across the MAT are viable
  • Maintaining MAT financial records and ensure reconciliations are completed.
  • Promoting best practice procurement across the Trust to achieve value for money and ensuring compliance with public sector procurement rules and Academies Financial Handbook.
  • Collating the data for budgetary and financial returns to ESFA.
  • Supporting the Finance Director with the preparation of internal and external audits, including the co-ordination of individual school teams in providing relevant information.
  • Monthly analysis of MAT accounts liaising with finance staff to ensure the month end timetable is met.
  • To assist the CFO in monitoring internal controls within the MAT and individual schools.
  • To assist the CFO with supporting school leaders to identify cost-savings, efficiencies and other financial improvements.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Academy Trusts settings and be proficient in PS Financials. We are able to consider applicants from other Not for Profit sectors and our client is seeking a part qualified accountant (or AAT qualifed). This rolewill have the potential to covert to a permanent role.
