Job Description

OverviewDS Smith Paper Mill in Kemsley has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer, with manufacturing experience to join the team. In this role your responsibility will be to source materials and services required for the effective operation of local production, engineering, projects and capex spend areas at the best value. The role will collaborate with UK Procurement Operations to help implement relevant global and local procurement activities at Kemsley Mill & Logistics.The Role:As a Buyer at DS Smith Kemsley, you will:

Conduct and implement sourcing, buying and tactical activities

Conduct local market research (suppliers and products) and assist with defining Business needs

Conducts tenders within relevant spend areas (production & engineering)

Meet with suppliers & contractors to manage the business and supplier relationships

Advise the business on most appropriate contract terms, minimising risk & liaise with Group Legal for approval

Acts as business support and cover for the Commercial Purchasing Manager at Kemsley

Builds a strong relationships both internally and externally

Collaborate and supports UK Procurement Operations as needed

Adhere to global and local Procurement strategies and projects

Communicate ideas for improvement to internal customers and category leads

Follows up on the Cost Improvements and Working Capital achieved

Operate according to procurement policies, contracts, procedures, processes, guidelines and regulations

Be familiar with and adhere to all site health, safety & wellbeing rules/procedures

What we would like our candidate to have:

Experience in a similar role at a similar level within an engineering of paper environment

Strong negotiating and influencing skills

Ability to understand and apply contract terms

Strong commercial acumen

CIPS qualification - minimum of a Diploma

Competent on Microsoft Office Applications

Ability to analyse data

Experience of SAP ERP systems
