As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the launch of new products and processes, acting as a New Product Development (NPD) Project Team representative for the Production department.You will proactively lead or support all activities associated with development of current and future capabilities and processes. You will ensure that the processes are continually improved, optimizing both the introduction of new technologies and seekingyear on year manufacturing cost reductions and efficiencies improvements.Main Responsibilities:• Comply with and fulfil Manufacturing Engineering requirements throughout the NPD Process• Develop existing and new manufacturing equipment, processes and methods in line with business objectives• Lead process optimisation activity to achieve manufacturing cost reductions and quality improvements• Provide Time Studies and line balancing to support standard work creation• Analyse process performance and development improvement projects using DMAIC approach• Programming and program development for KUKA robots and automation systems• Assist in process-writing tasks, using interlocked and error proofing process control systems• Support NPD with general DFM guidance throughout the product design process, approving Technical drawings accordingly • Contribute to Production KPI’s data capture• Generate, lead and update layouts of the Plant Production facility• Design and implementation of Jigs and tooling to support manufacturing and/or NPI• Generate and sustain TPM schedules and lead equipment maintenance activities taking a hands-on approach• Ownership of contractors RAM documentation and other H&S related requirements• Specify equipment and process upgrades for existing Production and NPD, generating related RFQ’s• Capture project related updates in Powerpoint and competently present these to multi-functional Project teams & management• Provide & monitor capacity planning data for key equipment items• Work alongside H&S to ensure all necessary policies and procedures are in place and followed• Mentor, train and develop department apprentice(s)• Support the Production Manager with production system improvements, continuous Improvement activity and lean culture development/changeYou will have; Relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification /Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training. Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience. Six Sigma Green Belt. Experience working in a highly regulatedindustry such as Automotive / Aerospace OEM or First Tier supplier or equivalent industries as a Manufacturing/ Production engineer. Experience of working within a team to meet set deliverables within a manufacturing / production department. Experience workingin a highly regulated OEM industry such as, defence, medical etc. Knowledge of Composite Manufacturing. Project management experience. Practical working knowledge of Robotics and Automation including operational programming. Ability to evaluate, develop andimprove existing Production processes. Ability to adapt to a changing business and cover all manufacturing engineering functions as required. Take a hands-on approach with a constant readiness to support Production. IT literate (Office 365, CAD, Solidworks).
