Job Description

Audit Assistant Manager - ALMOST Fully RemoteBishops StortfordUp to £55,000 (DOE)AJ Chambers are pleased to be working with a Top 30 firm of Chartered Accountants, on their requirement for an Audit Assistant Manager to join their Bishops Stortford office.This firm have an award nominated Audit team, who are offering great development opportunities and work-life balance in a top 40 Accountancy firm.You will also benefit from a market leading hybrid working policy, meaning you can work where and when you want, with the exception of attending the office for meetings or going on client visits.Main duties This is a split role working on 60% audits and 40% accounts

  • Planning, supervising and carrying out audits with turnovers up to £250 million, including specialist audits e.g. FCA, pensions, solicitors, charities and schools.
  • Supervision and assisting junior staff with technical accounting and auditing problems
  • Preparation of draft corporation tax computations
  • Preparation of draft statutory accounts and consolidated accounts under FRS102 from clients draft figures.
  • Drafting recommendations to management following audit fieldwork completion.
  • Preparing responses for group reporting for clients where we are the component auditor.
  • Larger accounts preparation jobs for audit exempt limited companies, partnerships, LLPs
Promotion and development prospectsThe successful candidate will be someone to develop quickly and who is ready for their next challenge. Bringing new ideas and fresh ways of working, solid technical and practical experience and a desire to train and develop others we anticipate quick progressionto an Assistant Manager role. At that point, the successful candidate will be carved out a portfolio to manage whilst still working on larger Audits and developing the trainees and apprentices.About you:
  • Use of computer packages including Proaudit, CCH Accounts Production (AP), Sage, Quick Books, Xero, Alphatax and Microsoft office would be desirable.
  • Ideally ACA or ACCA qualified (degree not essential) or sitting finals imminently.
  • At least 3 years experience in a practice
