We are looking for a highly specialist SLT to join the team in supporting women affected by acquired brain injuries (ABI) or functional neurological disorders at a new service in Middlesborough.This is a full time role, 40 hours a week but part time or job shares will be considered.Candidate ProfileAs a Highly Specialist SLT you will be working directly with a specialist caseload of women with complex presentations who could have co morbid mental health diagnoses, neurological or non-epileptic seizures and be detained under the Mental Health Act, informal or subject to DoLS. These individuals may have a forensic history including diagnosis of an established or suspected ABI, neurodegenerative condition, specialist dementia, Korsakoff’s or Functional Neurological Disorder manifesting with behavioural, sensory, memory, fatigue, concentration or motor deficits.Benefits• Excellent Clinical Supervision, CPD and developmental opportunities for clinical and non-clinical duties• Full support from an onsite multidisciplinary team• Routine service meetings and peer support with Speech and Language Therapists• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays• Free meals on duty• Employee rewards and discount benefits scheme• Full induction training is givenCriteria· A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy, registration with HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).· Experience within a Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist role· Experience in the field of neuropsychiatric conditions and acquired brain injuries (ABI) evidenced by high level of clinical SLT knowledge. Experience of working in inpatient/acute settings beneficial.· Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning.· Qualification in Dysphagia management.· Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others· Excellent communication / time management skills.· Enthusiasm, motivation and passion.
