Are you and SLT with neuro experience but have an interest in Mental Health Are you ready to develop your leadership and clinical skills We want to recruit an exceptional SLT to this post.Cygnet Newham House is our 20-bed Neuropsychiatric care and treatment facility for women with acquired brain injury. This service provides individuals with one care pathway, ensuring a smooth transition through their rehabilitation.CaseloadAs a Highly Specialist SLT you will be working directly with a specialist fixed caseload of women with complex presentations. The individuals in your care may have an ABI or neurodegenerative condition but also present with a co-morbid mental health diagnosisand may be detained under the Mental Health Act, informal or subject to DoLS.Job RoleYou will work to assess their speech, communication and language needs (SCLN) in all environments. You will also assess and manage dysphagia with or without the requirement of PEG support / modified diets. As part of a multi-disciplinary team on-site, youwill also work with all staff across the hospital to support the implementation of the therapeutic and neuropsychiatric approach demonstrating an interest in upskilling the workforce. You will have a fixed caseload number to support intensive SLT-focused interventions

You will have supervision from the Clinical Lead SLT for Neuropsychiatry and line management from the clinical manager at Cygnet Newham House
We have a network of 50 SLTs in the Cygnet Heath Care working within different specialisms including Neuropsychiatry, LD and ASD, CAMHS, Older Adults Mental Health and Social Care

The Successful Candidate should be/have:

A registered Speech and Language Therapist with the HCPC
Experienced in the field of ABI / neurodegenerative conditions
A Dysphagia-trained practitioner with evidence of up-to-date competencies in this field
An understanding of SLT process/interventions and can take a hands on approach
Excellent communication and time management skills
Passionate about student education
