Senior Planning OfficerHelmsley, North Yorkshire (office/home-based)The North York Moors National Park Authority helps to look after one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. With your experience and expertise, youll work with local communities to provide for theirneeds whilst safeguarding the Parks natural and built environment.So, if you are looking for a fresh, new challenge and want to help our National Park flourish and thrive, we want to hear from you.The RoleAs a Senior Planning Officer, you will help deliver the Authoritys Development Management Service and handle planning casework.Reporting to the Planning Team Leader, you will be part of an area team providing a high-quality and customer-focused development management service that delivers sustainable development within the National Park.Managing your own caseload of applications and proposals for development, you will carry out site inspections and negotiations with applicants, their agents and specialist staff. You will prepare statements for planning appeals and present evidence at hearingsand public enquiries.Working closely with monitoring and enforcement staff, you will also ensure developments are monitored and prepare reports and recommendations regarding unauthorised developments.Additionally, you will:- Prepare reports, recommendations, and present items to the Planning Committee and at Member site inspections- Contribute to the preparation of plans and policies for the management of development in the National Park - Deputise from time to time for the Planning Team Leader- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the current H&S and equalities policiesAbout YouTo join us as a Senior Planning Officer, you will need:- Post qualification experience in Development Management- Experience of working successfully with local communities- Good IT skills- Good interpersonal skills with a wide range of people- The ability to analyse and interpret information to make balanced judgements- The ability to think creatively to develop solutions to complex and difficult problems- To be eligible to become a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute- To be educated to a degree level or equivalent- A full driving licenceKnowledge of planning issues within rural areas would be beneficial to your application, as would up to date knowledge of relevant planning laws.We can offer this position to the right candidate on full-time hours, which will consist of 37 hours per week, or part-time hours, between 22.5 and 37 hours per week.Other organisations may call this role Senior Planning Advisor, Senior Planning Enforcement Officer, Senior Development Management Officer, Senior Planning Compliance Officer, or Planning Officer.This advert has been produced by Webrecruit in Collaboration with North York Moors National Park Authority.To apply for this vacancy, please visit our website.The closing date for applications is midnight, on 10 September 2021Interviews are to be held on Thursday 30 September 2021
